Unlocking the Potential of Long-Duration Energy Storage: A Path to a Sustainable Future

As energy grids become “smarter” and decentralised, and as renewables continue to grow as a percentage of overall generation, having solutions that ensure continual energy supply is going to be critical. One particularly positive development in this area is long-duration energy storage, or LDES.

Origin Energy Media Alert - Origin has acquired a 5 per cent equity interest in Newcastle based clean-tech company Allegro Energy and agreed to a pilot of their long duration battery at Eraring Power Station.

Origin Energy acquires 5% stake in battery cleantech Allegro Energy; Investment to support pilot at Origin’s Eraring power station

Allegro Energy, a battery cleantech, is proud to announce that Origin Energy has taken a 5% equity stake in its business effective immediately. The funding and partnership are intended to support the staged development of a 60MWh pilot Redox Flow Battery (RFB) to be installed at Origin’s facilities. The agreement also gives Origin the option to support Allegro all the way through to funding its first gigafactory.
